I have a small cnc router with a kflop controller. The origin point appears to be drifting from part to part. X is moving in the -X direction. Same with Y and Z is going up. I am cutting aluminum and polycarbonate. Both much harder than wood.
I plan to run a program 10 times tonight in the air (no workpiece) with a dial indicator on the X axis just to see what happens. Then I plan to do the same with a workpiece. This should tell me if the problem is the result of losing steps.
Assuming I am losing steps, one possible solution is to add some sort of feedback to the system. Two questions:
1. Can this be accomplished with the kflop controller? 2. If so, what feedback systems do you recommend?
PS This is one of Carl Bruce's machines.

Hi Paul,
What kind of Stepper Drives do you have?
What Are your Settings for Step Pulse Timing?
The feedback would be an encoder. You can connect single ended encoders to KFLOP.
